MBFWA I

Day 1? Day 2? Its a bit blurry to me for sure. Tas and I skipped out on the one Sunday show so Monday will be ordained or day 1. Unlike last year, the twinster and I weren't too fussed on formulating the perfect,  striking outfits - more or less, we wanted to wear pieces that although are amazing,  they were functional and comfortable and represented what we would wear on a regular basis. We had no interest in becoming walking - exhibitions for fashion week. To our delight, the weather took a sudden turn to the cooler end of the Sydney spectrum,  alas beckoning for coats and boots (and other cold weather etcetera) but unfortunately it was also accompanied by intermittent downpours here and there!
Tasfia is wearing:  jacket CLAUDE MAUS, top DION LEE, skirt FRIEND OF MINE (similar), shoes ALEXANDER WANG (similar) , sunglasses RAY BAN, bag DEADLY PONIES (similar)

Kahlo was one of our favourite shows of the week. Kahlo stepped their fantastic leathers up a notch by introducing beautiful iridescent metallics. Kahlo's combination of clean-cut minimalism with minty leather, metallics and that deliciously fluid looking fabric produced that synergistic minimal impactfullness, that  understated-cool that Tasfia and I are always enticed by. We loved clever the fusion of otherwise very 90's silhouettes with some very modernistic elements. How deliciously rad is that off the shoulder double strap? :D

Tasfia, before evening shows, wearing: top ANNA QUAN, skirt ANNA QUAN, shoes ALEXANDER WANG, bag PROENZA SCHOULER, sunglasses RAY BAN,  necklace GORJANA

Dare I say, that my favourite aspect of fashion week, perhaps even more than the 'fashun' is being able to catch up with cuties that I seldom have the chance to see!  Here I am with Mega babes Callie and Alex Mearing

Our day began with a flurry of feathers and sequins at Aurelio Costeralla. Any collection that uses bright pinks and greens has immediately got me tuned in. I loved the use of gradients warm and cool gradients combined my feathers. So many pieces I can imagine myself wearing if he right occasion presents itself.

The Strateas Carlucci show existed in a sect of the neo-gothic realm that I vastly enjoy. I was definitely intrigued by the beautiful tailoring consistent throughout the collection, the zip details and the LEATHER!
Gail Sorronda has forever been one of our favourite designers. So, it was only natural that I wore Gail Sorronda to the Gail Sorronda show.
Here I'm wearing: dress GAIL SORRONDA, shoes STELLA MCCARTNEY, bag 3.1 PHILLIP LIM,

Gail Sorronda maintained her sense of dark romanticism that I have always been fond of and combined it with a transcendental element of story-telling - i.e. the little mermaid.  The models were abstractions of aquatic sirens and from look to look, I was invariably in awe of the dreamy silhouettes.

The final show of the night was Karla Spetic - An off location show at a local swimming pool. Coincidentally, this was another collection inspired by the mysticism of the world that lies beneath - however with a vastly different perspective. Karla's collection maintained her fundamental sense of a playful innocence and gentle romanticism while integrating beautiful fluid silhouettes, marble patterns and mollusc-like frills and pleats all reminiscent of the wonders of the aquatic world. I am terribly inept at judging a collection objectively. Frankly, when I am at a show, the major thing in my mind is, which of this pieces would I love to wear/buy - what seduced me most about this collection is that I would love to own just about everything!
